Supported Employment
Individuals enrolled in Supported Employment work with a PWAC job coach who helps them through each phase of the job search and interview process. Once employees secure jobs in the community, job coaches work closely with them and with their employer to help ensure good working relationships and skill development.

Our individuals enrolled in Supported Employment work at a variety of places, including restaurants, daycares, grocery stores, and others!
Small Group Employment (SGE)
Individuals enrolled in PWAC's Small Group Employment program (SGE) receive work experience and training from staff members by learning to provide quality services to businesses and residents while earning above minimum wage in the communities of Armstrong, Butler, and Indiana counties. Because they are paid by PWAC, we refer to the individuals enrolled in our programs who complete work projects as part of their training as our "employees." Staff members work with employees who are enrolled in SGE in a 1:3 ratio.
PWAC's SGE program has four sub-businesses, including Progressive Lawn and Landscaping, Progressive Commercial Cleaning, Progressive Document Destruction, and Progressive Production Services. Employees have the opportunity to work for one or more of these SGE program divisions to build a variety of skills.

Learn more about these businesses on our Services page!

Pre-Vocational Programming
Employees complete various sub-contracting projects that usually involve assembly, packaging, or similar skill sets. This program can be customized to accommodate individual employees to help them meet their personal training and employment goals.

Employees who are enrolled in and complete work projects as part of this program are considered part of Progressive Production Services, a sub-business of PWAC that provides opportunities for employees in to complete production contract work for local business customers. Progressive Wood Works is also part of PWAC's Pre-Vocational program.

Adult Achievement Center - Leechburg
The AAC Leechburg is our newest program location that opened in September 2024! This program is steadily growing as more individuals are referred for services.
The AAC Leechburg day program is designed to pursue the same objectives as our AAC Kittanning location. Clients focus on building knowledge, abilities, and competencies in daily living skills, health awareness, financial responsibility, safety awareness, leisure skills, socialization skills, and self-determination. The AAC's goal is to enable individuals to achieve their optimum level of independence while leading happy and productive lives.
Because this program is located at the very southern tip of Armstrong County, the AAC Leechburg can accommodate individuals in nearby Westmoreland County in addition to Armstrong and Indiana counties.
